Job Summary: Starlite Communications Inc. is growing! Our Winnipeg office is looking for a Civil Engineer to work in our telecommunication construction division.

Locations: Manitoba

Successful candidates will have the following responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the successful design, production, coordination and management of structural building designs, telecommunication tower designs, and telecommunication tower foundations.
  • Apply advanced engineering techniques to solving engineering design/analysis problems
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of design calculations and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs
  • Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, analysis) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices
  • Work closely with other business lines, Engineers, Designers and Project Managers as a key team member within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining structural design guidelines
  • Review of shop drawings for structural adequacy and compliance with structural drawings
  • Carry out business development activities including working closely with clients, and proposal preparation.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of engineering fee estimates for bids and proposal on structural engineering

Minimum Requirements

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a structural major)
  • Current Registration as a Professional Engineer in good standing in Manitoba.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local and national building codes, design standards, engineering criteria and structural engineering software
  • Proficient in STAAD, Autodesk software and other analysis/design software
  • Experience in analysis and design of building structures in structural steel, and reinforced concrete.
  • Experience in preparing civil and structural designs for projects that demonstrate ability to deliver and meet various challenges
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety in complexity and size/scope
  • Communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with clients and internal team members in the development of designs and specifications of structural building systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years relevant engineering experience in the design of building structures
  • Project management skills/experience
  • Business development/client relations experience
  • Geotechnical expertise
